1.How was your company founded, and how has it evolved over the years?

Our company was founded in 2003 by my father and has a history of over two decades. From 2003 to 2008, we focused on manufacturing rotomolded products such as water tanks and storage tanks. In 2008, when we planned to expand our product line and upgrade processing equipment, we struggled to find suitable machinery on the market. This gap in the Rotomolding Equipment market inspired my father to make a bold decision—to pivot our business toward the manufacturing of rotomolding equipment and molds.

 We understand that producing standard equipment is achievable, but crafting high-performance machinery requires continuous learning and extensive collaboration. Starting from 2010, we established partnerships with multiple universities in China to conduct research in mechanical analysis and structural design. We also invited Gary, a renowned rotomolding consultant from South Africa, to provide on-site technical guidance. For years, we have remained the only enterprise in China’s rotomolding industry that maintains long-term cooperation and exchanges with universities and industry associations at home and abroad, setting us apart from our peers in the domestic market.

Around 2013, we realized that equipment and mold manufacturing alone were not enough. The key to mutual success lies in providing customers with comprehensive solutions to optimize their product design and production lines. Since then, our company has transformed its positioning from a manufacturer to a service-oriented enterprise, dedicated to delivering end-to-end system solutions.

 I officially joined Rising Sun Rotomolding in 2015, marking the start of our close integration with the global rotomolding community. We actively participate in industry associations worldwide, attend international rotomolding conferences, and represent the China Rotomolding Association in overseas speeches. Over the past decade, we have expanded our sales network significantly—from having offices only in China to establishing a presence in Australia and even purchasing land in the United States, enabling us to serve customers more closely with high-quality, localized support.

To date, our products have been exported to more than 90 countries globally. Notably, our very first piece of equipment was sold overseas. Despite my father’s limited English proficiency and reserved personality, his sincerity and perseverance won the trust of customers step by step. It goes without saying that our growth has been accompanied by numerous challenges, but this unwavering dedication has rooted our company firmly in the global rotomolding market.

In terms of engineering technology, we collaborate closely with four domestic universities to drive R&D in mechanical mechanics, heat transfer analysis, and product design. We have jointly launched a specialized rotomolding program with Hubei Minzu University to cultivate and deliver talent tailored to the industry, striving to expand the application scope of rotomolding technology. We firmly believe that equipment manufacturing enterprises cannot thrive without solid technical support. This belief is encapsulated in our corporate mission:  Rolling the World, Shaping the Future!

In our current production facility, multiple robotic arms are deployed for welding, polishing, grinding, cutting, and warehouse logistics. We set a strategic direction for intelligence and digitalization five years ago, aiming to further enhance and optimize our smart manufacturing processes with the assistance of robotics and AI.

2.Rising Sun Rotomolding is not only a leading manufacturer of rotomolding machines but also a service provider, offering end-to-end support for partners from the conceptual stage to the final product…

We provide customers with full-cycle rotomolding technical support, including product design and R&D, mold processing, material selection, process debugging, equipment manufacturing, and production line construction. I often tell our customers, “We are not just your suppliers—we act as your external R&D, production, and procurement departments. You just need to share your requirements, and we will take care of the rest.” To date, we have collaborated on numerous projects with clients, successfully helping them mitigate design and manufacturing risks while creating greater added value.

After moving to our new factory last year, we built an in-house laboratory dedicated to testing steel materials, plastics, and new product prototypes. This has further improved our service system and strengthened our technical support capabilities. 

We maintain an open mindset, actively sharing industry insights and cutting-edge information gathered from home and abroad. We continuously introduce advanced international management concepts and design philosophies, facilitating the flow of valuable knowledge among customers and growing together with them.

3.Your R&D center is one of the pillars of your business. How is it structured?

Our R&D system is led personally by my father, integrating our in-house R&D team and university collaboration partners. University teams provide theoretical support and professional analysis, while our in-house team refines technologies and implements applications based on academic data and conclusions, ensuring R&D outcomes are both scientific and practical. Notably, we are the first and only enterprise in China to establish a rotomolding industry-university-research cooperation base, which serves as a solid foundation for advancing our technical research and industrial transformation.

Our internal R&D team is divided into three core groups: the Equipment R&D Group, the Mold R&D Group, and the IE Improvement Group. The Equipment R&D Group focuses on equipment design and function upgrades; the Mold R&D Group is responsible for mold design evaluation and continuous optimization; the IE Improvement Group drives production process enhancements and manufacturing management upgrades, comprehensively boosting production efficiency and product quality. 

Every summer, we welcome interns from partner universities, injecting fresh perspectives and innovative ideas into our team. Daily brainstorming sessions foster frequent collisions of ideas, continuously stimulating the team’s R&D vitality and creativity.

4.Looking 10 to 15 years into the future, what trends do you believe will define the rotomolding industry?

 - First,   green and sustainable manufacturing   will become the core driving force. The rotomolding industry will continue to make breakthroughs in material recyclability, process energy efficiency, and the environmental friendliness of products throughout their life cycles.

- Second,   intelligent production and management  , especially with the help of AI, will be further optimized to enable predictive and data-driven production process management.

 - Third, the demand for   integrated product functionality and lightweight design   will grow stronger. Particularly in sectors such as new energy vehicles, energy storage systems, and aerospace, rotomolded products will evolve beyond simple containers or casings to assume multifunctional roles including structural support, thermal management, and medium storage.

- Fourth,   globalization and localized services   will advance hand in hand. Future enterprises must not only have a global supply chain perspective but also possess the ability to deliver in-depth localized services. As we have already been doing, we will stay close to markets, respond quickly to needs, and provide customized solutions tailored to regional requirements.

For us, these trends align perfectly with our ongoing strategic focus: industry-university-research collaboration, international layout, and green technology innovation.

5.Technological progress has also played a vital role in helping rotomolding technology shed its reputation as a basic process limited to simple products. Today, rotomolded products can achieve high complexity… From this perspective, you focus heavily on the automotive industry—what are your thoughts on this?    Since we serve customers across more than 50 different industries, we pay close attention to every niche market. Only by truly understanding the market environment our customers operate in can we accurately meet their needs. In recent years, the complexity of products in the industry has been continuously increasing, both domestically and internationally. In my view, this is a highly positive signal—it indicates that rotomolding technology is gradually permeating all aspects of life, no longer confined to traditional fields such as water tank manufacturing. 

In the automotive industry, our scope also includes fuel tanks and other engineering machinery products. In recent years, we have assisted customers in building multiple production lines for engineering machinery fuel tanks and hydrogen storage cylinders. Despite occasional market fluctuations, the overall development prospect is promising. A growing number of automotive manufacturers are shifting from traditional metal components to plastic alternatives for fuel tanks, water tanks, and urea tanks, to achieve both lightweight design and recyclability. Rotomolding offers distinct processing advantages over other plastic manufacturing technologies in this regard. Meanwhile, continuous R&D and upgrading of rotomolding materials are opening up broader application space for the process. This is truly exciting!

6.In recent years, the rotomolding industry has gradually captured various niche markets with new products. Is there still room for further growth in the industry?

We firmly believe that the rotomolding industry has enormous growth potential.

On one hand, rotomolded products enable mass production, feature lightweight design and recyclability, and boast significant environmental advantages. On the other hand, compared with other plastic processing technologies, rotomolding offers unique molding flexibility and design freedom, making it difficult to replace. During our field visits to multiple countries, we have identified a large number of untapped market demands—these markets only need the right catalyst to be fully activated. With the deepening of global industrial collaboration and information exchange, the release of these potential demands will undoubtedly drive a new round of growth in the global rotomolding market.

7.Which industrial sectors are your machines most commonly used in?

Our equipment covers almost all rotomolding-related industries, including but not limited to: water tanks, septic tanks, chemical storage tanks, traffic facilities, amusement equipment, boats and yachts, flower pots, cleaning equipment, animal husbandry equipment, engineering machinery, floating pontoons, furniture, and cold chain transportation. Many customers joke that our rotomolding exhibition hall is more like a rotomolding museum.

8.Process sustainability is undoubtedly one of the key issues facing the rotomolding industry. How is your company addressing this important challenge?

We fully embrace the concept of sustainable development. 

In terms of materials, we actively promote the application of renewable and recycled materials. A notable example is the “Cloud Chair” we customized for an academy using recycled materials. This project not only realized the eco-friendly recycling of materials but also demonstrated the flexibility and practicality of rotomolding technology in sustainable design. 

Energy efficiency in production processes is a key focus of our continuous optimization efforts. Our independently developed electric heating oven, integrated with intelligent temperature control and waste heat recovery technology, has significantly reduced energy consumption. Meanwhile, we have incorporated solar power systems into the energy planning of our factory production lines, gradually advancing the replacement of traditional energy with green electricity and reducing the carbon footprint of our production processes. Optimizing process parameters with wireless in-mold temperature measurement devices has also effectively reduced mold trial times, further saving energy and raw materials. 

In addition, we implement the concept of “lightweight design + long service life” from the product design stage. Through structural optimization and material reinforcement, we reduce product weight while ensuring performance and extend service life, truly achieving the whole-life-cycle green management from design to recycling.
